Classes Offered

The school year starts September 7th, 2011 and runs through May 18th, 2012.

New this year - our Monday-Wednesday-Friday program extends the time! The Monday-Wednesday-Friday session runs from 9:00-1:00 and includes more time for kindergarten readiness skills and art and music.

Traditional Tuesday-Thursday program meets from 9:00-1:00. This program is geared for a first introduction to school or for children who would like to augment other programs with additional Discovery opportunities.

5 day program available - choose all 5 days for maximum Discovery time! This option is designed to give parents who desire or need more day/week, and give the child the advantage of a daily school routine.

All classes listed above are appropriate for 3-5 year olds.

Admissions

All applications for registration will be considered in the order they are received to the extent of the capacity for each class. Children's Discovery Center accepts all children three (3) to five (5) years of age without regard to race, color or creed.

Registration

Registrations are accepted in January of the preceding school year. A $50.00 registration fee is payable when the child is enrolled and is not refundable.

Health Form Required

The health form is required by the Connecticut State Department of Health Services and must be filled out by a physician before the child is enrolled. This form must include a record of immunizations against DPT, measles, German measles, polio and Chicken Pox. This form remains current for one year.

All registration fees and forms and tuition payments should be deposited in the locked box in the Children's Discovery Center foyer or sent directly to the Children's Discovery Center.

Tuition may be paid in one lump sum, or in nine monthly installments.

The first installment is due on August 1st, thereafter payable by the first school day of each month. If payment is received after the fifteenth day of each month, a $5.00 late fee will be assessed.

PAYMENT BY CHECK is preferred. Returned checks for insufficient funds will be surcharged a $25.00 fee by the Children's Discovery Center in addition to any bank charges incurred by the Children's Discovery Center and must be paid when the check is re-deposited.

Accounts more than 30 days overdue may be cause for dismissal.

Parents are responsible for each month's tuition in spite of absences. The school's budget and teacher's salaries are based upon full enrollment; therefore, compensation cannot be given for absences.

Paul and Edna Lewis Scholarship

A scholarship has been established in honor of Paul and Edna Lewis. They were very instrumental in the original establishment of the Children's Discovery Center in 1976 and guided its development in those early years of growth. It is designed to help parents who are in need of financial assistance in providing for a preschool program for their child. Scholarship assistance may be applied for by contacting the Director, Karen Sovak or the Administrative Bookkeeper, Gretel Eddy. All inquiries and assistance are kept strictly confidential.
